Student Activities

What Goes On Around SGM?Food Bank

  • ATRIUM—Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade
  • OASIS—retired seniors come and spend time with primary students in need of a little extra help
  • Biztown—Junior Achievement program for 5th and 6th grade students to learn economics
  • Finance Park—middle school elective to manage money as an adult
  • Bellarmine Speech League—middle school program for students to learn public speaking.
  • Math League—middle school program for students to work together against the clock in mathematics.
  • Ambassadors—middle school program for students to act as ambassadors of the school.  They give tours, make presentations, help the younger students get settled into middle school.
  • St. Vincent de Paul Service—middle school opportunity once a week serving and helping out at St. Vincent de Paul parish.  
  • Dancing Classrooms — 5th students learn the Merengue, Foxtrot, Rumba, Tango, Swing, and Waltz, while developing and practicing the life skills necessary for creating positive and meaningful connections with others.
  • 6th grade Camp—outdoor 3-day experience for the 6th grade students.
  • Student Council—open to middle school
  • Connections Program—students at all grade levels make a connection with a senior shut in and write back and forth.  An opportunity to let someone know they are still thought of.

What Happens After School?

After school there are clubs the students can participate in such as the Chess Club, Lego Club, Service Club, Robotics, fitness, just to name a few.  These are all presented in the fall of the year and the students sign up.  There is no cost to the clubs and they are all sponsored by faculty and staff.

After school clubs will not be offered for the 2020-2021 school year.

Chess Club

Moderators: Mrs. Krummenacher
Who? Grades 3-8
Where? Mrs. Krummenacher classrooms
When? 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month 3:10-4:00 PM

Chess Club will continue playing and learning the fundamentals of chess in a relaxed atmosphere. More advanced students are encouraged to help those just starting out.

Crafty Readers

Moderators: Mrs. Young and Mrs. Pollmann
Who? Grade K (maximum 10 students)
Where? Center City
When? First Wednesday of the month 3:10 – 4:00 pm

Craft Readers is a club for Kindergarteners who love to read and create crafts!  Each meeting, we will read a story and create an accompanying craft to enhance enjoyment and comprehension of the story.  We will have four sessions.  Group one will participate on Oct. 1 and Nov. 5.  Group two will participate on Dec. 3 and Jan. 7. Group three will participate on Feb. 4 and March 4.  Group four will participate on April 1 and May 6.

Fine Arts Club

Moderator:  Mrs. Wilson 
Who? Grades:  6-8 (Limited to 15)
Where:  Art Room (131)
When:   3:15- 5:00pm
All Dates: 

Description:  Creative middle school students who are interested in art will have the opportunity to explore creating with various painting techniques.  They will design artworks in their own style while sharing ideas with one another.  Students will create two pieces of fine art paintings on stretched canvas using higher quality paints and brushes.  There is a $10 materials fee due.

LEGO Club If you like building and thinking creatively, then the LEGO CLUB is for you!  You don't need to bring your own legos, just come and build with ours! 

Middle School Service Club

MODERATORS: Mrs. Wilcockson 
WHERE: Middle School Religion Room
WHO: Grades 6-8.
WHEN: The 2nd Wednesday of every month, 3:15-4:15pm
You can make a difference! Middle School Service Club is always looking for those who will help serve others.  We serve in a variety of ways around the campus and beyond: from cleaning up gumballs to writing letters of hope to children in hospitals. Come and be a part of these worthwhile projects. You, your ideas and enthusiasm are welcome. Come and join us!
